SHOES FOR CHILDREN

INVESTIGATION. THE SCIENTIFIC BASIS

Together with the IBV, we investigate how the shape of the foot evolves in children, taking into account the instep, how the plantar arch is formed and growth rates. The conclusions of the study provided us with scientific evidence to design respectful footwear that adapts to each stage of foot growth.

Definition of the stages of gait development.

Crawling Stage and First Steps

MATURATION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE GAIT

LOCOMOTRIC CAPACITIES: Acquisition of postural balance control and acquisition and maturation of crawling. Standing, short to long spells unassisted, and stable autonomous gait. Seated.

FUNCTION OF THE FOOT: Sensitive, exploratory organ and supporting element.

FUNCTION OF FOOTWEAR: Protection against cold and mechanical injuries. Stability, pressure distribution and shock absorption in uncontrolled environments.

REQUIREMENTS: Flexibility for foot mobility. Adhesion in the toe for propulsion in crawling. Stable base to ensure balance, friction with the ground to prevent slipping. Very low weight.

LOCOMOTRIC CAPACITIES: Gait development. Increase and diversification of physical activity.

FUNCTION OF THE FOOT: Support element with increasing and varied activity.

FUNCTION OF THE FOOTWEAR: Adapt to the shape and movements of the foot, providing various functional benefits.

REQUIREMENTS: Light and flexible footwear. It must allow the adjustment to be varied, providing support to the foot. It must provide stability and moderate cushioning, ensure proper friction with the ground and high breathability. It must be resistant to intensive use.

RESPECTFUL FOOTWEAR ADAPTED TO EACH STAGE ACCORDING TO ITS NEEDS

Biomecanics is manufactured with elements free of phthalates, chrome and nickel, using water-based glues. In the designs we eliminate the small removable parts that could be dangerous for the little ones. Complying with the regulations of the toy law.

BIOGATEO:

They provide thermal and mechanical comfort (without pressure or chafing) to protect the foot in uncontrolled environments. The closest thing to walking barefoot, they do not interfere with the physical and motor development of the foot.

FLAT REMOVABLE ANTIBACTERIAL INSOLE.
Totally flat, since the baby has not yet developed its plantar arch at this stage.

Being removable, it allows the shoe to ventilate, and makes it easier to take measurements of the foot.

FLEXIBILITY AND PROPRIOCEPTION
The sole facilitates the movement of the foot in all directions: flexion, dorsiflexion and torsion so as not to limit the high mobility of the foot and allow the transmission of stimuli.

FRICTION
The grooved design of the sole in the metatarsal area provides the right grip to allow momentum when crawling.

SETUP
The closures allow adjusting the fit considering the morphological changes that occur during growth and the different postures that children adopt.

Our adhesive tape closure system prevents chafing and facilitates flexibility. The padded tongue prevents hyper-pressure on the back of the foot.

BIOEVOLUTION:

Resistant and comfortable footwear for continuous use whose last adjusts to the morphological characteristics of children's feet through 3D anthropometric data of the European child population.

EVOLUTIVE LAST
Feet do not grow the same at certain stages. The evolutionary last of Bioevolution collects these variations with a shoe more adapted to the growth of the foot.

FLEXIBILITY
The sole with its flex and friction grooves allow flexibility as the gait matures.

STABILITY
The soft stabilizer and the wider base at the heel are reduced when the child's gait is already consolidated.

WEAR
The wear patterns of the shoes in children of these ages have been analyzed and a reinforced toe cap has been designed for greater resistance to the friction of the shoe.

RESISTANT
We design footwear capable of withstanding intensive use while providing great freedom of movement.

SETUP
Our adhesive tape closure system prevents chafing and makes it easy to fit the shoe. The padded tongue prevents hyper-pressure on the back of the foot.

Developed together with the IBV
(Institute of Biomechanics of Valencia)

At Biomecanics we carry out continuous research together with the Biomechanics Institute of Valencia. During the design and development processes, we use 3D anthropometric databases of the European child population in order to adapt the shape and dimensions of the footwear to the shape of the child's foot.

We also carry out studies of movement patterns and analyze the interaction of the foot with the ground to determine which are the areas of greatest wear on the sole and thus adapt these areas of wear to the different stages of growth.

The result of this joint work is children's footwear that adjusts to the morphological characteristics of the child's foot and evolves with it at each stage.

Preserves the correct development of the child's motor skills without losing sight of something very important. An optimal shoe adapted to the true needs of a constantly growing foot.

Founded in 1976, the Valencia Biomechanics Institute (IBV) is a technology center dedicated to studying the behavior of the human body and its relationship with the products, environments and services that people use. To achieve this, the IBV combines knowledge from both biomechanics and ergonomics or emotional engineering.

Biomechanics collaborates with the Spanish Association of Pediatric Nursing, an institution dedicated to caring for the health and life of children. Founded in 1987 by professionals who share knowledge and concerns on a regular basis.

Our collaboration with AEEP provides us with the best source of inspiration and information: the one that encourages us to innovate in the development of each new model.
